Gerês and the Douro - nature and landscape in pictures

Peneda-Gerês National Park and the Douro region are places you really have to experience for yourself. Great views, quiet roads and landscapes that keep changing along the way make this part of northern Portugal special to travel through.

Whereas Gerês is best known for nature, mountains and hiking trails, the Douro Valley is more about views, wine terraces and quiet routes along the river. It is precisely this variety that makes this region so beautiful to explore during your stay.

You don't always have to have a schedule here. Sometimes driving a route, stopping somewhere along the way and looking around quietly is actually enough.

From Quinta Viva a Vida, both Gerês and parts of the Douro are easily accessible for a day on the road or a longer route through northern Portugal.
