Caminha - where Portugal ends and Spain begins

Caminha is located in the far north of Portugal, at the mouth of the Minho River, right on the border with Spain.

From Quinta Viva a Vida it is easily accessible for a day trip.

Caminha: river and sea

The center of Caminha is compact and consists of small squares, narrow streets and a village character. The wide mouth of the Minho provides open views and a relaxed atmosphere.

Along the river and near the beach there is space to walk and pause. Caminha is not a busy beach town and is often perceived as quiet and accessible.

Monção: fortified town and wine region

Following the river inland, you will arrive in Monção. This place is known for its fortifications and location in the Vinho Verde region.

The center is small and uncluttered. In and around Monção you will find vineyards, cafes and restaurants. A visit is good to combine with Caminha in one day.
