Viano do Castelo

Viana do Castelo is a nice change during your stay in northern Portugal. The town combines sea, nature and a relaxed Portuguese atmosphere without pressure or mass tourism.

From Quinta Viva a Vida you can easily drive there for a day on the coast, a walk through the historic center or just a quiet lunch overlooking the sea.

Culture & city

The historic center of Viana do Castelo consists of cozy squares, narrow streets and old buildings that give the city a lot of character. You will find small stores, terraces and a relaxed atmosphere that suits northern Portugal well.

Above the city is the famous Santúario de Santa Luzia, with views of the coast, the Lima River and the surroundings of Viana do Castelo. The route up alone is worthwhile.

Viana feels lively, but remains uncluttered and quiet enough to walk around leisurely.

Sea & nature

On the coast of Viana do Castelo there are wide beaches and dune areas where you can take a nice walk or just quietly enjoy the sea and space.

Praia do Cabedelo is popular with surfers, but also fine for those who just want to get a breath of fresh air or spend an afternoon at the beach. From the city you are also quickly in nature, with green hills and hiking trails towards Serra d'Arga.

It is precisely this combination of coast, nature and city that makes Viana do Castelo so pleasant for a day trip.

Food & atmosphere

Viana do Castelo is known for its seafood restaurants, local cuisine and relaxed atmosphere by the water. Especially around the port and the center you will find many places where you can sit quietly for lunch or dinner.

Also for guests who eat gluten-free we like to think with you about fine and reliable places in the area. Thanks to our own experience with celiac disease, we know how nice it is to be able to eat somewhere without worries during your stay.
